Abstract
871,820. Personal sanitary-conveniences. JOYNER, J., and FRANKLIN & SONS Ltd., J. G. Dec. 10, 1957 [Dec. 12, 1956], No. 37955/56. Class 26. A personal sanitary convenience has at least one ring connection between two or more of its separate parts effected by making at least one part of a thermoplastic material which is permanently deformed whilst heated around a rigid retaining part. In the form shown the ring portion 3 of the urine receiver 1 and a ring portion of the penis-gripping sheath 6 are so connected. The part 3 at the receiver mouth has the end margin 7 of the sheath 6 deformed and arranged around it, and clamped to the part 3 by deforming a thermoplastic ring around it. The receiver mouth may be formed with a rigid flange to provide the retaining part 3. An elastic ring may also be sprung around the connection. The rigid part 3 may be of thermoplastic, rubber, or other flexible or resilient material in which there may be a reinforcing ring 4, and may have a surface suitable for the keying of the deformed part therewith. The flange or part 3 may carry flaps 5 for securing the convenience to a body support. The end part 7 deformed whilst heated may be heated and expanded and cooled to the expanded form and contracted by the application of heat. The connection may be produced so that a circumferential portion of one part lies closely around a retaining ring on an inner flange and enters into a groove at the mouth of the other part to interlock the parts axially, the mouth being thicker than the rest of the receiver and having an enlarged bead along one part.
