Class 97(1) Slides are moved from a magazine to a projection or viewing position along a guideway from a magazine in which they are disposed in a position angularly related to the guideway so that the slide changing member meets the first slide in the magazine before pushing it into the guideway. In the form shown in Fig. 5 the magazine is disposed so that the slides are tilted outwardly from the projector. The slide changer comprises a reciprocating plate 23 to which is attached a plate 24 the leading edge 25 of which engages the foremost slide and lifts it to the position shown dotted into the track along which it is then pushed to the projection aperture. When the plate is retracted means thereon, not described, withdraw the previous slide into the magazine. The device shown in Fig. 6 is provided to prevent the plate 23 being retracted until a full stroke has been made. A pivoted member 46, integral with two resilient arms 47, is pivoted at 48. The initial movement of the plate 23, to the right in this Figure, deflects the member 46 and stresses one of the arms 47 against a stop 52. After further movement the member 46 drops into a notch 53 in the bottom edge of the plate 23 and engagement of its end 51 with the end 60 of the notch positively prevents any return movement of the plate 23. As the movement of the plate 23 continues the member 46 still bears on the bottom edge of the plate and prevents reverse movement by its wedging action. At the end of its movement the end of the member 46 drops into another recess in the bottom edge of the plate and permits it to turn to the position shown dotted, during the return stroke.
