Abstract
870,917. Aerial housings. MICROCELL Ltd., and GINGHAM, M. Oct. 13, 1958 [Oct. 11, 1957], No. 31922/57. Class 40(7) [Also in Group XXXIII] The Figure is a cross-section of a radome comprising an inner non-metallic shell 21 and an outer pyro-ceramic shell 22 enclosing between them a reinforcing honeycomb 23 of metal or glass fibre. The honeycomb is sealed in by an annular member 24 through which extend an inlet 25 and outlet 26 for liquid helium. The latter fills the interstices of the honeycomb and gradually escapes through the shell 22 and evaporates, thus cooling the radome. Alternatives to liquid helium are liquid air, ligroin, tricresylphosphate, or a high aromatic ester.
