Abstract

879,870. Milling-cutters. PUREFOY ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Oct. 28, 1957 [July 27, 1956], No. 23232/56. Class 83 (3). [Also in Group XXIII] A milling-cutter comprises cutting edges on two angularly disposed surfaces. Spaced, inserted blades 6 of two lengths 6A, 6B are secured in helical grooves 5 of tapered crosssection by wedges 7 operated by screws 8. Radial cutting edges 9 are provided by the end blades, and further cutting edges by cutters 14 in a collar 4 mounted adjustably on the shank 3 of the milling-cutter and driven by flats on the shank. Three surfaces may be machined simultaneously by the cutter, e.g. the inside surfaces of an L-section member and the edge of the horizontal web, the inside surfaces being machined by the helical and radial edges of the blades 6 and the edge by the cutters 14. Helical grooves 10, parallel to grooves 5, guide the finger of a grinding machine during grinding of the blades 6.
