Abstract
Dyeings or prints on cellulose textiles with reactive dyestuffs are improved by treatment with an aqueous preparation containing an organic agent containing at least one nitrogen atom which is known to improve the wet-fasteness properties of dyeings on cellulose fibres with substantive dyestuffs. Specified after-treating agents are aminoplasts, non-cyclic agents containing the group:- <FORM:0877948/IV(c)/1> such as the reaction product of dicyandiamide, a monohydrochloride of a lower alkylene diamine and formaldehyde, polymeric esters or amides of polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acids which contain a basic tertiary or quaternary nitrogen atom in the ester or amide portion and quaternary ammonium compounds. In some cases, the after-treating agent may be employed in the form of a copper compound or in the presence of an agent yielding copper. Before the after-treatment is applied, the dyed textile is preferably washed with boiling water, if desired containing triethanolamine and/or polyvinyl pyrrolidone, and then washed with cold water. The after-treatment may be applied at ordinary or raised temperatures. Numerous examples are given.
