Abstract
877,573. Grinding wheels. MAAG GEAR WHEEL & MACHINE CO. Ltd. Aug. 21, 1959 [Oct. 10, 1958], No. 28705/59. Class 60. A dished grinding wheel has a hub 1 to which is secured an outer grinding element 3 of larger outside diameter than the hub, the hub material having a modulus of elasticity which is higher than that of the grinding element, and the cross-section of the hub having an area exceeding half that of the complete wheel. The hub may be of steel or ceramic material e.g. steartite or an aluminium-magnesium-silicon alloy, which may be fused with an outer ceramic grinding element to form an integral unit, or in the case of a steel hub-portion, the grinding element may be secured to the hub by a synthetic resin glue.
