Abstract
877,500. Nuclear power plant. CHAMPION, F. April 2, 1959 [Jan. 12, 1959], No. 993/59. Class 39(4). [Also in Group XXVI] A boiling water reactor and a rotary piston steam engine are mounted together on a base which forms a coolant tank. Steam is generated from the moderator, H 2 O, in the core 43, shown dotted, and collects in the top of the reactor vessel; from there it is withdrawn through pipe 40, superheated in tubes 38, 39 traversing the core, and passed through pipe 41 to the engine. Condensate is returned to the reactor via the base tank 4.
