877,148. Making hose fittings. IMPERIALEASTMAN CORPORATION. May 17, 1960 [Sept. 11, 1959], No. 17358/60. Class 83 (2). [Also in Group XXVIII] A method of making a fitting 13 for connecting to a synthetic plastic hose, comprises the steps of providing a cylindrical bore in the fitting, forming in the wall of the bore a screwthread 20 having a rounded crest, and frustoconically coining the fitting in the screwthreaded end of the bore to deform the screwthread thereat into an inwardly narrowing frusto-conical surface 24. As shown, the fitting has a frusto-conical surface 21, and a punch 26 and holding jaws are employed for forming the surface 24.
