Abstract
874,985. Controlling overhead-travelling cranes. KING, D. M. May 9, 1960 [April 2, 1959], No. 11211/59. Class 78 (4). The automatic stop means for overhead cranes described in Specification 545,541 has means which ensure that the co-operating stop actuating levers 20 and 27, 28 are in the same horizontal plane on movement of two cranes 10, 11 into the same vertical plane, so that the operation of the stop arms 16, 17 may be effected despite the fact that the cranes themselves may not be truly in the same horizontal plane. As described, a bracket 13 carrying the stop arm 17 is rigidly mounted on the crane 11, as described in the earlier Specification. A corresponding bracket 12 which supports the arm 16 is mounted on an arm 50 pivoted to the crane 10 at 51. As the cranes come into the same vertical plane a roller 52 mounted on the arm 50 slides up a cam face 53 mounted on the bracket 13 thus ensuring that the brackets 12, 13, which support levers 20 and 27, 28 respectively, are in the same horizontal plane.
