Abstract

874,950. Brushes; handles. HARDMAN CO. Inc., H. V. March 2, 1960 [Feb. 2, 1960], No. 7408/60. Classes 19 and 61. To allow a plastics handle 20 to be satisfactorily secured in the ferrule 10 of a paint brush the handle is provided with an open ended skirt 22 which is so dimensioned as to allow when inserted in the ferrule of a small space 18 between the ferrule and at least two opposite portions of the skirt so that self curing resinous cement contained within the ferrule on top of the bristle material passes, when the handle is positioned within the ferrule, up into the space or spaces 18. To strengthen the bond holes 24 can be formed through the skirt adjacent the lower edge thereof. Above the skirt the handle is formed with a locating shoulder 28. A perforated web may extend across the bottom of the skirt and internal stiffening webs may be formed within the handle.
