Abstract

869,726. Tamper-proof closures. SALTRAMETAL S.A. Sept. 2, 1959 [Sept. 15, 1958], No. 29999/59. Class 125(3). A metallic container 1 with a circular lid 2 has a tamper-proof collar 6 of flexible material, e.g. synthetic plastics or rubber comprising an upper pad 8 held by an inwardly bent flange 7 on the lid and a lower pad 15 held by an inwardly bent flange 16 on the body, and an annular tear strip 13 defined by grooves 17, 18, the strip 13 being integral with a tongue 20 for pulling. The grooves 17, 18 are joined by a transverse groove opposite the tongue 20. After the collar 6 has been broken, the lid may be re-used, a portion 9 of the collar forming a tight fit in a groove 10 in the container body. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the upper pad is held by a lid as in Fig. 1 but lies in a vertical plane instead of being in a plane at right angles to the remainder of the collar. If the container base is separate, the lid may be applied before filling and the container filled from below.
