869,281. Toothed gearing. CRAVEN BROS. (MANCHESTER) Ltd. Aug. 11, 1959 [Nov. 14, 1958], No. 36660/58. Class 80 (1). [Also in Group XXII] A method of cutting toothed racks comprises mounting the blanks c on longitudinal faces of a carrier a with clamping means e, f between them and cutting the teeth by a milling cutter which advances by the pitch of the rack during each turn of the carrier. A mating pinion 10 is cut by a hob 11 similar in form to the racks. The teeth produced on the racks have slightly inclined and curved teeth.
