Class 107 A road finishing machine, suitable for levelling fluid concrete, comprises a central frame having extensible side sections upon which are mounted wheels running on side forms and an angularly adjustable oscillating screed mounted on a telescopic support pivoted to the central frame so as to be angularly adjustable about a vertical axis, the extensible sides of the support being connected to the sides of the extensible sections. As shown, the central frame 30 consists of longitudinal members 35 and transverse tubular members 33 into which telescope the transverse members 37 of extensible side sections 32 the longitudinal members 36 of which carry the wheels 21 to run on the side forms, movement of the extensible side sections 32 being effected by hydraulic rams 40 and 41. The front screed 22, which is fixed in a transverse position relative to the line of travel of the machine, may be raised or lowered on to the side forms by the hydraulically operated arm 70 and linkage 73; it may be oscillated in a transverse direction by the crank and pitman 63 driven from shaft 64 and is connected to the screed 22 by thrust rollers 61 attached to the sides 36 of the adjustable frame 32 running inside guides 62 such that the thrust is conveyed to the screed by the edges 36 of the machine in all positions of the adjustable section 32. The rear screed 23 is carried on a tubular support 89 pivoted at 90 to the central frame 30, oscillation being effected by the crank and pitman 115 driven from shaft 64 through a flexible coupling 119 and height adjustment being effected hydraulically by the arm 106. A member 88, which telescopes into the tubular support 89, is connected to the arcuate guides 92 on the sides 36 of the extensible section 32, thrust rollers 85 being carried by a support 87 attached to the ends of 'the member 88 running in guides fixed to the screed 23 in a similar way to those on the front screed 22. The angle of the rear screed 23 is adjusted by means of hydraulic rams 100 and 101 and the machine may be raised from the side forms by lowering the hydraulic jack 25 and the road wheels 24 which are also operated hydraulically by the rams 129 enabling the machine to be towed by the draw-bar 26.
