868,402. Glass bending moulds. PITTSBURGH PLATE GLASS CO. Sept. 20, 1957 [Oct. 3, 1956], No. 30601/59. Addition to 768,982. Class 56. A glass bending mould M of the skeleton type shaping surface has a heat absorbing member positioned to underlie a glass sheet on the mould, the heat absorbing member 120 comprising a metallic screen 122 adjacent the glass sheet and supported on a plate 124. The screen 122 extends beyond plate 124 so as to graduate the absorption of heat from edge 24 to edge 22 of the mould section 21. In the embodiment described, the mould initially supports the unbent sheets in a flat horizontal position and is subsequently tilted during the bending operation. The heating arrangements include coils 84.
