865,537. Making concrete reinforcement rods; altering physical structure. TOR-ISTEG STEEL CORPORATION S. A. H. Aug. 1, 1957 [Aug. 2, 1956], No. 24452/57. Classes 83 (2) and 83 (4). A reinforcement rod for concrete comprises a core 1 devoid of external longitudinal grooves or depressions but formed along the exterior thereof with longitudinal ribs or edge portions 2, and formed also with transverse ribs 3 which are disposed between and all similarly inclined with respect to the longitudinal rib or edge portions, the rod being cold-twisted about its longitudinal axis in such manner as to extend the transverse ribs in the direction of their length and to deform the longitudinal ribs or edge portions into non-parallel relationship with respect to the axis of the rod. The transverse ribs may terminate before reaching the longitudinal ribs as shown at 4 (Fig. 2) and the cross-section of the rod may be circular, square, hexagonal, octagonal or triangular.
