Abstract

851,476. Soldering. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 11, 1957 [April 13, 1956], No. 11253/56. Class 83 (4). In soldering conductors supported on a panel 1 a protective mask 6 having apertures 7 therein to expose only portions of the panel where connections are required is applied to the panel and soldering of the connections is effected through the apertures. Coatings on the walls of apertures 3 in a styrene panel form eyelets into which the wires 5 from components 4 are entered. The coatings which are continuous with printed circuit conductors 2 may be replaced by separate eyelets. A rigid mask 6 of ceramic or hard glass is clamped to the panel and soldering of the wires to the circuit is effected through apertures 7 by dip soldering in a solder bath or by using a wave of solder or by a solder depositing brush or paddle. A second mask may be elamped to the other side of the panel.
