Abstract

851,402. Rooflights. STANDARD PATENT GLAZING CO. Ltd. Jan. 24, 1957 [Dec. 3, 1955], No. 34654/55. Class 20(3) A combined curb and lining for supporting a roof light comprises a vertical walled casing 1 having a lower lining portion la for insertion in the roof opening 3x and which has a crosssectional dimension such as to leave a space between portion la and the opening 3x, and an upper curb portion 1b supporting the roof light at its upper edge, the casing 1 having brackets, angle cleats 8, strips or the like secured thereto for resting on the upper surface 3 of the roof for supporting the casing. The casing 1 may be cylindrical and have lugs 5 welded to it at intervals for bolting the cleats 8 thereto. The lower edge 2 of the casing 1 is flanged to receive plaster board or other ceiling material 4 and the upper edge 9 is downwardly inclined to support the domefixing clips 11. The casing 1 is lowered into position from above and the space between the casing and the roof is filled with screed 13 and covered by asphalt or felt 14. In a modification Fig. 4, the flange 9 is omitted and the upper edge of curb portion 1b receives strips 15 which support lantern light upstands 16. In a further form the upper edge of curb portion 1b is inwardly and upwardly flanged, the casing 1 being inserted upwardly into the roof opening and the angle cleats subsequently bolted directly to the casing 1.
