Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of the general formula : <FORM:0851311/IV(b)/1> (wherein Ar is a phenyl radical optionally substituted by halogen atoms, alkyl, alkoxy or hydroxy groups, R1 and R2 are hydrogen atoms or alkyl radicals with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R3 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl or alkenyl radical with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R4 is an araliphatic or aliphatic radical which may have oxygen or sulphur atoms as linking members or hydroxy groups as substituents, and R4 with the alkyl radical R2 may form a divalent hydrocarbon radical), and the preparation thereof by dehydrating a compound of the general formula : <FORM:0851311/IV(b)/2> which is formed by either reacting a compound of the general formula : <FORM:0851311/IV(b)/3> with an oxirane of the general formula : <FORM:0851311/IV(b)/4> or reacting a compound of the general formula : <FORM:0851311/IV(b)/5> with an oxirane of the general formula : <FORM:0851311/IV(b)/6> Compounds in which R3 is an alkyl or alkenyl radical with 1 to 4 carbon atoms are also made from the corresponding compounds in which R3 is a hydrogen atom by alkylating or alkenylating with a suitable reagent. (3 - Hydroxy - but - 2 - yl) - (2 - phenyl-ethyl)-amine is made from styrol oxide and 1,2-dimethyl-ethanolamine.
