Abstract

The invention comprises the N-monomethyl amide of O,O-dimethyl-thiophosphoryl acetic acid: (CH3O)2P(O)S,CH2,CONH,CH3. It may be obtained by reacting an alkali metal salt of O,O-dimethylthiophosphoric acid with the N-methylamide of monochloroacetic acid. The reaction can be carried out in water or in an organic solvent at ordinary temperature or by moderate heating. The product has pesticidal properties (see Group VI).ALSO:A pesticidal composition comprises the N-monomethylamide of 0,0-dimethylthiolophosphoryl acetic acid (see Group IV(b)) and an inert diluent, e.g. diatomaceous earth. The composition may also contain a wetting agent, e.g. it may be in the form of a wettable powder. The active ingredient is stated to be soluble in water, alcohol, acetone, benzene, dioxane, and dimethylacetamide.
