Abstract

857,931. Portable containers. UNILEVER Ltd. Oct. 27, 1958 [Oct. 17, 1957], No. 32509/57. Class 66. A polythene bottle, with inward folds 7 formed in its body 1, has a reinforcing sleeve 2 of cardboard fitted between projections 3, 4 on its body 1 and secured by adhesive to the body 1 above the folds 7. The bottle is made by blow moulding whereby the thickness of material at the folds is less than at other parts of the body. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the folds 7 run longitudinally of the bottle ; and the sleeve 2 is secured by adhesive to the ridges caused by the folding. The invention is in order to prevent bulging of the bottle, under internal pressure, at places where the bottle is not reinforced.
