Abstract

857,071. Core construction. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. April 10, 1957 [Feb. 9, 1956], No. 4075/56. Drawings to Specification. Class 35. An induction motor has a solid rotor having a macroscopically-homogeneous surface layer comprising a mixture of copper and iron of which at least 60% by weight is copper. The layer is applied by spraying, sintering or electroplating to an iron base forming the rotor magnetic core, and the base may be cylindrical or part-spherical and may be mounted on an aluminium support structure. The rotor may be hollow. The Specification describes examples of mixture proportions and layer dimensions. Specification 857,072 is referred to.
