Abstract

856,598. Valves; regulating; starting injection engines. DAIMLER-BENZ A.G. March 25, 1959 [March 28, 1958], No. 10368/59. Classes 7(3) and 7(6). (Also in Group XXVIII] Fuel pumped from an inlet 23 by pistons 27, 28 reciprocated in a bore 26 by a multi-lobe cam 33 and levers 31, 32 passes to an annular groove 10 in a member 6 rotated by 1 : 1 gearing 8, 9 from the pump shaft 3. Longitudinal grooves 12 connected to the groove 10 distribute the fuel to outlets 22 leading to the injection connections. Radial fuel return bores 11 in the member 6 connect with the groove 10 and communicate with a bore in the member 6 in which a non- rotating valve 7 is slidably mounted. The valve 7 has a spill duct 19 controlling the bores 11 and is connected to a spring 14 and diaphragm 15 subjected to manifold pressure. Maximum fuel is contolled by a spring loaded stop 17 which is engaged by the valve 7 which can also be moved by a lever 16 to cut off and starting fuel positions.
