Abstract

Anhydrous boron phosphate, BPO4, is produced by preparing a slurry of boric acid particles of such size as to pass a 200 mesh B.S. sieve in aqueous orthophosphoric acid, submitting the slurry to mixing, evaporating to dryness, and dehydrating by calcination at 1000-1300 DEG C. The mixing of the two acids in equimolar proportions is effected in a turbo-mixer or colloid mill at 80-90 DEG C. When calcined at above 1050 DEG C. the product changes from an amorphous to a crystalline form.
