840,027. Automatic exchange equipment. SIEMENS & HALSKE A.G. Dec. 5, 1958 [Dec. 20, 1957; May 23, 1958 (2)], No. 39338/58. Class 40 (4). [Also in Group XXXVI] Frames supporting circuit elements can be arranged in racks in the manner of books on a book-shelf, the spacing between opposed racks being enough to provide access to the side of a frame when in withdrawn position. Fig. 8 shows a plan and Fig. 6 a side elevation of an arrangement of rack units 2<SP>1</SP> with service gangways 3<SP>11</SP>. A cable shelf 8 is mounted above each line of racks and each rack is mounted on rollers 6. Movement is limited by abutments 14, 15. The conductors for the equipment on a rack are arranged in a flat cable 10 connected to a distributer 7 on the top of a rack or on a floorbased support 20. The cable shelves may be protected by a casing 36. Indicating devices 37 are provided for checking and supervisory purposes.
