Abstract

848,536. Bearings. SCHUMAG SCHUMACHER METALLWERKE G.m.b.H. Jan. 8, 1959 [Jan. 16, 1958], No. 799/59. Class 12 (1). A tool-spindle 1, e.g. of a centreless grinding machine, is mounted in pairs of main bearings 2 and compensating bearings 3, one of each type being located at each side of a grinding-wheel 8 carried by the spindle. Each compensating bearing 3 is enclosed in a ring 4 which is radially urged away from a workpiece W by two springs so as to take up any play existing between the spindle and the main bearings 2. The springs 5 are positioned at 120 degrees apart and at equidistance from the workpiece W. Each ring 4 is locked against rotation by a screw 6.
