Abstract

847,948. Wall lamps with adjustable reflectors. KEMPTHORNE PROPRIETARY Ltd. May 21, 1958 [Aug. 12, 1957], No. 25390/57. Classes 75(2) and 75(4). A lamp such as for attaching to bed head by screws or spring-loaded arms comprises a die cast, moulded or otherwise formed base 10 having integral therewith a preferably part spherical reflector supporting socket 15 with a central aperture for accommodating a lamp bulb holder 24 secured to the base 10, the said aperture having therein a channel section retaining ring 19 which is also fitted through a radial slot 22 in a reflector 16 having a part spherical portion 17 seated within the socket 15, so that the reflector may be tilted with respect to the axis of the lamp holder and rotated about that axis and held in position by a friction pad, e.g. of felt, 23 fitted in a recess in the rim of socket 15. The holder 24 is mounted on a body 26 formed with flanges 27 by which it is secured by screws 28 to rearward projections 29 on the socket 15. A switch (not shown) is secured to the body 26 with the dolly thereof projecting downwardly and outwardly through the flanges 12 and 14 of the base 10. The front portion 18 of the reflector may be elongated to any desired shape e.g. of uniform diameter or convergent or divergent.
