Abstract
847,834. Ventilators. NORVENT Ltd. June 27, 1957. [March 1, 1957], No. 6910/57. Class 137. Ventilating apparatus includes a housing to be secured in an air duct opening in which there is a drum 8, having a slot 10 extending therethrough, in which fixed or adjustable air guiding vanes are secured suitably spaced, the drum 8 being rotatable about its axis on pivots 9 from a central position in two opposite directions, so as to close the slot 10, and a hit-andmiss type air volume damper adjustable to admit air through each slot 16 escaping from the housing via the slot 10 when the drum 8 is suitably positioned. The housing has a flat portion, a bearing portion 3 extending longitudinally of it with closed ends and a slot 4, a rear plate 5 having a portion carrying a bearing portion 6 lined with soft material 21 also closed at the ends wtih a slot 7. The drum 8 has a strip 12 with a knob or like attachment whereby it is turned to give an upward or downward deflection of 45 degrees, the portion 3 having a slot into which the drum 8 can be further turned for closure. The damper comprises a slidable plate 17 on a fitting 14 with slots 16, and having as many slots 18 with means, such as a bolt and nut 19 working in a slot, to fix the plate 17.
