Abstract

846,968. Loud-speakers. TRIX ELECTRICAL CO. Ltd. Jan. 29, 1959 [Jan. 29, 1958], No. 2972/58. Class 40 (4). A column array of moving-coil loud-speakers 5 is mounted in a casing with a power amplifier. When used in a public address system a common voltage amplifier supplies all the column array power amplifiers so that the system is not upset by switching in and out of arrays and dummy loads. The loud-speakers 5 are mounted in the upper part of a casing 3, the front of which is apertured and covered with expanded metal 11. At the bottom of the casing an extended portion forms a guideway and mount for a detachable housing 19 containing the power amplifier. Two guide-pins 27, between which lies a four-pin plug, engage complementary members in a partition-plate 13 of the casing and provide connection with the loudspeakers and any heat dissipating components of the amplifier which it is found advantageous to mount in the upper part of the casing 3 with the loud-speakers. Bolts in the side of the housing 19 engage L-slots 33 in the side walls 17 of the casing 3. Two four-pin plugs 51, one on each side of a guide-pin 53, are mounted on the back of the housing 19 to engage complementary components on a U-sectioned wall bracket 45.
