Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of the general formula:- <FORM:0846377/IV(b)/1> where R is a straight or branched chain alkyl radical containing not more than 6 carbon atoms or an alkenyl radical having from 2 to 6 carbon atoms and one ethylenic bond, and the preparation thereof by reacting propargyl bromide with the sodium salt of a diethyl malonate of the general formula:- <FORM:0846377/IV(b)/2> reacting the resultant propargyl malonate with lithium aluminium hydride and reacting the resultant propargyl propanediol with phosgene and then with ammonia. The products have psychotropic properties. Specification 751,440 is referred to.
