Abstract
Hydrogen and oxygen are removed from nitrogen by conversion to water over a catalyst comprising palladium supported on a carrier consisting of activated silica alumina gel. Calcination may have been effected at 500 DEG C. The nitrogen may initially contain hydrogen and/or oxygen and hydrogen or oxygen may be added before catalyst contact. The catalyst may be in the form of granules of 8-16 mesh size and may contain 0.01-2.5%, e.g. 0.5%, of palladium. The catalyst may also contain another platinum group metal. Catalyst contact may be effected at room temperature. Specifications 632,182, 761,430 and 761,712 are referred to.
