[Also in Group VI] A cooking appliance comprises a grill formed by a series of longitudinally inclined bars mounted in a frame which carries beneath the grill a support for a fire. As shown, the appliance comprises three inverted U-shaped frames 12, 14, 18 connected together in spaced relation by rods 34, 36 and wingnuts, to accommodate a hearth 16 with superposed grill 10 and two trays 20, 22, the limbs of each frame being furnished with sleeves 28 to receive legs 30. The hearth 16, which is supported by hooks 48 fitted over rods 34, 36, consists of a rectangular open-topped container 42, Fig. 3, having an opening 44 in its front wall and carrying a grid or lattice 46, e.g. of expanded metal, to support charcoal or the like. The grill 10 comprises a series of bars or rods 50 connected together by cross rods 52, 54 and is supported in inclined position by hooks 56 on the end rods of the series engaging studs 58 on frames 12, 14. The front ends of the remaining rods are disposed over a fat-receiving trough 60 which drains into a receptacle 62. A rod 64 at the front of the grill prevents articles rolling off and plates 66, 68 at the sides and back keep out draughts. The frames 12, 14 carry brackets 72, 74 with alternative slots for the reception of the ends of a spindle 70 of a spit which may be rotated by a. handle 80 and retained in position by a lock nut 82. The trays 22, 20 fit tightly between the frames 14, 18 and are supported respectively by the rods 34, 36 and pegs (not shown), on the frames 14, 18.
