Abstract
844,803. Animal-feeding appliances. GROSSMITH, N. Feb. 12, 1959 [Feb. 20, 1958], No. 5544/58. Class 5(2). A feeding trough, which can be used, for example, in conjunction with the poultry cages described in Specifications 844,804 and 844,805, comprises two wooden end pieces 10, spaced apart by wooden bars 12 and 13, a wooden top 11, and a metal portion 15. Casement pins 20 are provided on the end pieces 10, whereby the trough may be pivotally mounted on, for example, a poultry cage, such pivotal movement being restricted by stops 18 and 21. The stop 18 also serves as a handle for pivoting the trough from a position in which the contents are accessible to the poultry in the cage, via the opening between the top 11 and an edge strip 14, to a second position in which the trough may be recharged. An inclined ledge 19 on the top 11 ensures that little or no rain enters the trough, and an internal baffle 16 serves to limit the amount of food flicked out of the trough by the birds.
