Abstract

844,124. Brushes, handle fixings. HOLDEN FERRULE CO. Ltd. March 6, 1959 [Aug. 22, 1958], No. 27059/58. Classes 19 and 61. A block 11 of plastics or of a substance, that is uneffected by moisture as regards swelling or shrinkage, is so shaped that it may be inserted in and secured in a ferrule 2 and may have secured to it the end of a handle 5 of a material that is subjected to swelling or shrinking in response to the moisture content of the surroundings. Preferably the handle has a cylindrical spigot 4 or a screw threaded stud at the lower end which mates in a complementary bore or passage in the block. The ferrule and handle may after assembly with the block be nailed thereto. The ferrule may also be crimped into peripheral grooves formed in the sides of the block.
