Abstract

833,958. Magnetic storage matrices. SIEMENS & HALSKE A.G. April 14, 1958 [April 12, 1957], No. 11843/58. Class 40 (9). A magnetic matrix comprises an array of cores 1 embedded in a plate 2 of non-magnetic material. Tubes 4 of magnetic material are carried by mandrils 5 fixed to a base plate 7. Electrically insulating non-magnetic material is moulded around the tubes, preferably by injection moulding, to form a block 6. The block is removed from the mandrels when set and matrices 8 are formed by sawing. A machine may be used for threading conductors through rows and columns of cores. The conductors are secured to soldering lugs 3 embedded in the plate 2 during the moulding process. Printed circuits may be arranged on the two sides of a matrix, corresponding conductors being connected by conducting elements inserted in the bores of the cores.
