Abstract
Starch irradiated with 107 to 2 X 108 R. per gram, preferably in the presence of an oxidation catalyst such as vanadium pentoxide, is more soluble than ordinary starch and can be more easily hydrolysed.ALSO:Starch irradiated with 107 to 2x108 R per gram, preferably in the presence of an oxidation catalyst such as vanadium pentoxide, is more soluble than ordinary starch and can be more easily hydrolysed.ALSO:Starch irradiated with 107 to 2 x 108 R per gram, preferably in the presence of an oxidation catalyst such as vanadium pentoxide, is used, e.g. in 1% aqueous solution as a protective coating for foodstuffs, such as biscuits, bread, candies or vegetables, tobacco, wood, &c., or incorporated in dried egg powder and puddings.
