Abstract
Olefins are polymerized by the Ziegler low-pressure method in a liquid medium with addition of catalyst or catalyst-forming components thereto during polymerization, which is carried out at not less than 60 DEG C. Ethylene is the specified olefin and a mixture of either aluminium triisobutyl or aluminium diethylmonochloride with titanium tetrachloride is the preferred catalyst, while white spirit is listed as the liquid medium. The olefin may be fed continuously to the reaction vessel and the reaction mixture withdrawn continuously therefrom. Specifications 799,392, 799,823, 801,031 and 832,205 are referred to.
