Abstract

832,182. Electric measurements. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. May 18, 1956 [Feb. 21, 1955], No. 5184/55. Class 37. The current density in an electrolytic plating bath 1 is determined by means of sampling electrode 6 which has one insulating face in contact with the object 4 being plated and is connected through a current measuring instrument 8 to the negative terminal of the plating bath. Fig. 2 shows the auxiliary electrode which consists of a plate 6a of " Nilo " (Registered Trade Mark) K, coated on one side with an insulating layer 6b of glass having suitable expansion characteristics. The glass may be applied in the form of a frit and fired to produce a homogeneous layer. Spot-welded to the electrode is a handle 7 also of " Nilo " K and insulated by glass taper or sleeving 7a impregnated with a resin resistant to the solution used in the bath.
