Abstract

831,937. Windscreen wipers. AVOG ELEKTRO-UND FEINMECHANIK G.m.b.H. July 8, 1958 [Aug. 22, 1957; May 21, 1958], No. 21897/58. Class 138(1). A windscreen wiper crank drive is characterised in that the crank pin is mounted on the crank so as to be adjustable longitudinally of the crank to a desired position, to enable the effective length of the crank to be varied. As shown, crank 1 is rotated by a shaft inserted at 2 and has a slot 3 in which is located a flat sided portion 4 of crank pin 5. Guide plate 6 pivoted about the crank pin and disposed between shoulder 7 and crank 1 has an arcuate slot 9 in which lug 10 projects outwardly from crank 1. The length of the crank may be varied by slackening off nut 8 and rotating plate.6 6 by means of end 11 causing the crank pin to move up or down slot 3 after which nut 8 is re-tightened. In an alternative construction arcuate slot 9 can be formed in crank 1 and lug 10 on plate 6. In another alternative construction, Figs. 3 and 4, flat crank 1 is replaced by a U-shaped -piece 22 the motor shaft being engaged in serrated bore 12. Longitudinal slots 13 and 17 fulfil the same function as slot 3 while plate 6 is effectively replaced by a bolt 19.
