Abstract
831,507. Photographing traffic; camera mountings. BERNING, H. H., [trading as ROBOT, BERNING & CO.]. Nov. 30, 1956 [Dec. 2, 1955], No. 36689/56. Classes 97(1) and 98(1) Two cameras having different angles of view are so installed in a road vehicle that their object fields overlap and enable traffic on all near and distant parts of the road in front of the vehicle to be clearly photographed. As shown, the cameras 3, 4 are mounted on depending brackets 20 on a bar 17 adjacent the upper edge of the vehicle wind screen. A measuring instrument 5 is provided on a mudguard 1<SP>1</SP> of the vehicle within the object field of the wider angle lens of the camera 3 and photographed through supplementary lens 10. The measuring instrument includes a timepiece 7 having a second hand and a speedometer 6 and is illuminated if necessary by electronic flash lamp 14 at the lower edge of the windscreen. The object may be simultaneously illuminated by electronic flash lamps adjacent the head lamps of the vehicle. Pin 34 on diaphragm adjusting ring 32 and a further pin (not shown) in the focusing ring are located in the correctly adjusted position in a slot 26 in a clamping ring 27 operated by tensioning band 28 on turnink knob 29. Locating pins 22, 22<SP>1</SP> are provided on fixed bar 21. The camera shutters are electromagnetically operated by buttons 41, 42. Solenoid 24 operates plunger 24<SP>1</SP> which depresses release button 39 by means of cranks 36 and 37 and rod 38. Pilot lamps 43, 44 indicate when the apparatus is ready for use.
