Abstract

831,505. Rolling. SANDVIKENS JERNVERKS A.B. Nov. 22, 1956 [Nov. 22, 1955], No. 35817/56. Class 83 (4). In a backing roll mill, adjustable deflection for the working rolls 11, Fig. 2, is provided by backing rolls 18 which are adjustably mounted intermediately of their ends in eccentric bearing sleeves 20 engaged by rigid projecting ribs 15A forming part of the mill housing 16. The roll shafts 17 are similarly mounted at the end in eccentric bearings 21, and adjustment for the bearings is provided by worms 25, 26 engaging arms 23, 24 of the bearing sleeves and which may be coupled together for common adjustment by a motor 37 (not shown) or may be independently adjusted by hand-wheels.
