Abstract
830,961. Gravity-separation apparatus. GROOM, R. W. April 17, 1956 [Jan. 17, 1955], No. 1388/55. Class 46. [Also in Group XXIII] Relates to a gravity-separation apparatus for separating naphthalene together with a solvent oil from aqueous detergent liquid and bottom sediments, all of which are removed from a tank being cleaned (see Group XXIII). As shown naphthalene deposits in the tank 7 are dissolved by oil from a tank 4. The solution together with aqueous detergent liquid from a line 10 is removed by suction through a line 9 into a layering container 2 of a separator 1. In the container 2 the mixture stratifies into bottom sediments, which are withdrawn ; detergent liquid, which is withdrawn into a container 3 of the separator, for further use, and oil containing naphthalene which is withdrawn from the top of the container 2. The naphthalene is crystallised out in a tank 11, whilst the oil is recycled -for-further use. Specifications 696,631, 742,844, 808,901, 808,902 and 830.962 are referred to.
