Abstract
839,449. Extruding. HYDRAULIK G.m.b.H. Dec. 18, 1958 [Dec. 18, 1957], No. 40970/58. Class 83 (4). The billet container of an extrusion press has an inner liner subdivided into segments 3 with conduits 4, 5, 6 for receiving heating or cooling agents. The container may comprise an outer jacket 1 and an intermediate bush 2 but the latter may be omitted, Figs. 1, 2 (not shown). The base 3b of the liner may be faced with a wear-resistant material applied by welding. Sealing wires 7 may be provided in the radial joints between segments. The heating or cooling agent may be gaseous or liquid and may flow through the same or different conduits; examples given include saturated steam for cooling and super-heated steam for heating, or a salt bath solution may be used for heating or cooling depending upon its temperature. Electric heating elements may be inserted in some of the conduits. In other embodiments the conduits are provided only on the radial joints between the segments. References are made to the extrusion of steel and to the sheathing of cables with lead. U.S.A. Specification 2,283,791 is referred to.
