839,327. Sphygmographs. VACUUMEXTRACTOR A.B. Sept. 11, 1956, No. 27723/56. Class 81 (2). An appliance for measuring internal pressures comprises a membrane 5 stretched across a chamber 2, having ports 3, 4. When the membrane is pressed against a part of the body compressed-air is admitted through the inlet 3 and, when the pressure within the chamber equals that within the body, the membrane is moved away from the outlet 4 and no further rise in pressure is possible. The maximum pressure reached thus indicates the internal pressure and may be read by means of a suitably placed gauge. The appliance may be used on the abdomen to indicate muscular contractions during childbirth and may also be incorporated in a suction cup.
