Abstract

<PICT:0839113/III/1> In an electrostatic paint-spraying device, paint is supplied through a pipe 28 to a fixed annular cup 60 from which it overflows in to an electrostatic centrifugal distributer 20 which flings the paint on to workpiece fixed to a workcarrier 40 conveyed past the spray. After finishing painting or to change the paint colour the residual paint is preserved by filling the cup with a solvent, e.g. butyl carbitol. The cup may have several spouts for even distribution. A 120,000 volt supply is connected to the distributer 20 and to the work-carrier 40. The work-carrier 40 runs on rails having a pinion engaging a stationary rack to rotate the carriage which carries car steering wheels 44. Paints, vitreous enamel frits or metallic paints in solvents may be used as coatings.
