Abstract
838,814. Vehicle couplings. BRUCE, A. G., V. Aug. 13, 1956 [Aug. 12, 1955; April 18, 1956], No. 24728/56. Class 103(5) A pair of coupling arms 1 pivoted to the tractor chassis at 34 are connected by adjustable chains 12 to the power-lift links 13 and are provided with uprights 16 housing pawls 17 which engage ratchet teeth 18 to retain the coupling arms 1 in a given position. Between the rear ends of the arms 1 is pivoted a coupling member 4 having aligned holes through which a spring-loaded coupling pin 11 passes to effect coupling. The pawls 17 are connected by cables so that the coupling operations may be effected by the driver from the tractor seat. The member 4 may be of arcuate shape and provided with holes through which a pin may be inserted to retain the trailed implement laterally offset and the member 4 may have arcuate extensions to fix it in a given angular position with respect to the arms 1.
