Abstract
Stable aqueous dispersions of organo-tin compounds containing 3 organic radicals made with a surface-acting agent, are used as mothproofing, fungi-resistant, and germicide composition. Examples of tin compounds include alkyl, aryl, or aralkyl tin with or without acid radicals, e.g. tributyl tin chloride, acetate, or oxide, tri-ethyl tin phenoxide, tripentyl tin palmitate, tetrabutyl tin, and tri-n-octyl tin acetate. Any anionic, non-ionic or cationic surface-acting agent may be used, e.g. polyoxyethylene glycol ethers, thio-ethers, or amides, sulphonated alcohols or fatty acids or sorbitanoleate. The tin compound may first be dissolved in a small amount of isopropyl alcohol or other solvent, the surface-acting agent added and then agitated with water. Where used to impregnate fabrics a little resin adhesive may be added, e.g. styrene/maleic polymer. The composition may be prepared as a solid concentrate and diluted before use.
