Abstract
836,872. Velocity modulated tubes. VARIAN ASSOCIATES. June 12, 1956 [June 14, 1955], No. 41159/58. Divided out of 836,871. Class 39(1). In a velocity modulation tube structure having a plurality of cavity resonators such as a cascade amplifier klystron used in radar, navigation beacons or in linear accelerator devices, the tubular structure of drift tubes 52 Fig. 2 and cavity resonators 2, 3 is provided with a plurality of transversely disposed strengthening plates 55 rigidly fixed thereto and a plurality of longitudinal strengthening rods 56 fixed to the plates 55 to provide a rigid integral structure. The plates 55 and rods 56 are of non magnetic stainless steel to prevent disturbance of the magnetic focusing field. Other aspects of the tube structure are described and claimed in Specifications 836,871 and 836,873.
