Abstract
A liquid detergent composition comprises (a) an alkylarylpolyglycol ether, preferably an addition product of p-isooctylphenol and ethylene oxide, and (b) a primary alkyl sulphate in which the alkyl group contains 8-20, but preferably 10-16, carbon atoms and the cation is sodium, magnesium, ammonium, or mono- or tri-ethanolamine, the amount of (b) being 10-100% by weight of (a). In modifications, ingredient (b) may be replaced wholly or in part by a corresponding secondary alkyl sulphate, or by a primary or secondary alkyl ethenoxy sulphate having 1-3 ethenoxy groups.
