836,592. Steam cooking apparatus. ANDERSON, A. M. July 20, 1956 [May 22, 1956], No. 15764/56. Class 28 (1). Food is heated and displayed in an appliance comprising a water container 2 located in an opaque base 1 which carries support members 7 and 9 for inner and outer transparent cylinders 10 and 8, the support member 7 for the outer member being perforated to allow steam to pass from the water container to the annular chamber between cylinders 10 and 8. An electric resistance heating element 3 whose current supply is controlled by a switch 4 is wound round container 2. Mounted on top of base 1 is an L-section ring 5, e.g. of metal with a rubber or like sealing-ring, on which member 7 rests, supporting member 9. Both transparent cylinders 8, 10 may be of heat-resistant glass and a wire grid 11, e.g. for sausages, rests in the space between them. A basket 13 for buns is provided in cylinder 10 and member 9 is imperforate so that no steam reaches them. A lid 14 is provided and has a handle 19 which engages the forked end of an arm 15 pivoted by a bolt and wing nut to a pillar 17 formed with or supported on ring 5. Thus arm 15 and with it lid 14 may be held at any angle by tightening wing-nut 16.
