Abstract
An abrasive wheel (see Group XXIII), is centrifugally moulded (see Group V), from abrasive grains, e.g. aluminium oxide, and a resin, e.g. an epoxide resin, unsaturated polyesters, aminoplasts or reaction products of polyhydric alcohols and poly-basic acids. In a specific example, 220 grams of epoxide resin, the reaction product of epichlorhydrin and bisphenol A, 36 grams of metaphenylenediamine and 579 grams of aluminium oxide are used. The resin may be liquid, plastic or a powder which may flow on heating, and the grains may be suspended in the resin or may be coated with the resin. Glass, cotton or synthetic reinforcing fibres in either continuous or chopped form may be added. The viscosity of the resin may be increased by adding fillers, for example, titanium dioxide or calcium carbonate.
